This article addresses a study on how non-school experiences are mobilized in the participation of Young and Adult students in a Mathematical Modeling Environment. For this, it was identified in the students' participation, based on mathematical, technical and reflective discussions, the moments of interaction referenced in the lived experiences, be they external or school. The research reported is qualitative and has as a method of data collection the observation, made on a group of students from a public school, in the interior of the state of Bahia. Data analysis was performed based on the literature presented, with a focus on mobilizing students' non-school experiences. Thus, it was concluded that the non-school experiences mobilized in the participation of young people and adults in a mathematical modeling environment allow students to interact with the teacher and with other classmates; question and assume or abandon hypotheses; choose problem solving strategies; take responsibility for performing a task; assume new assumptions and modify their strategies based on them; and present their understandings based on the results found.
